A 19-year-old Mentone man was charged with felony methamphetamine possession Thursday evening, and police said he had four juveniles with him.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m., Warsaw police stopped a 1999 Toyota Corolla on West Lake Street in Warsaw because of a headlight that was out, and then called in a police canine.
Police said the dog alerted to the presence of illegal drugs and that a plastic bag was found with a white powder that tested as meth. Police said a small amount of marijuana also was found.
Jacob R. Walerko was charged with possession, according to a statement issued by the Warsaw Police Department. The juveniles, one boy and three girls, were released to parents or guardians with no immediate charges.
One of the officers was accidentally exposed to the methamphetamine and was taken to an area hospital as a precaution after complaining of a tight chest, police said. He was treated and released.
