Barricaded suspect accused of strangulation, battery

FORT WAYNE – A 38-year-old Fort Wayne man was arrested Tuesday after surrendering to police, accused of strangulation and battery after a tense standoff at an apartment complex on the city’s near northeast side.

Police were called to Arbor Lakes Apartments about 9:30 a.m. about an argument inside one of the units, with items being thrown out a window.

The woman in the argument told police that a man identified as Michael Stots became angry and aggressive, but she was able to leave, according to a statement from the police department.

It said Stots refused to leave the apartment until members of the department's Emergency Services Team, also known as a SWAT team, were on the scene. The man surrendered peacefully and was arrested.
