Jury set in Spears’ family suit

– Jurors have been selected to hear a case against Britney Spears’ parents that will focus heavily on events that led up to her public breakdown.

The panel of eight women and four men was selected Thursday to hear claims by Spears’ former confidante and manager, Sam Lutfi, that the singer’s mother defamed him.

He also claims he has been unfairly blamed for the singer’s issues and is owed a share of the singer’s fortune for work on Spears’ album “Blackout.”

Hepburn in fashion

A New York City exhibition hails Katharine Hepburn as a fashion icon, which at first seems odd. She loved her trademark khakis and open-collar shirt – decidedly unconventional especially in the 1930s and 1940s.

But skirts and dresses abound in “Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen,” which began Thursday at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Forty of her performance clothes – from her personal collection – are featured. She had some copies made for her personal use.

Country at Fenway

Jason Aldean will be making history at one of baseball’s most historic sites.

Aldean will be the first country music star to play a concert at Fenway Park, the iconic home of the Boston Red Sox.

The July 13 appearance will be the initial stop on his first stadium tour.

The Georgia native released his fifth album, “Night Train,” this week.

‘Animal’ canceled

NBC said Thursday it’s pulling the low-rated sitcom “Animal Practice,” with the last episode to air Nov. 7.

The series stars Justin Kirk (“Weeds”) as a veterinarian at a New York animal hospital. His co-stars include Crystal, a Capuchin monkey with the “Hangover” movie sequel among her credits.

This week, “Animal Practice” drew less than 4 million viewers. That compares to the more than 14 million averaged by top-rated sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS.

“Animal Practice” will be replaced by “Whitney,” starring Whitney Cummings.
