Aldrich won't be running alone for long

Fremont's Anna Aldrich was running alone most of the time in her West Noble Cross Country Regional girls victory Saturday.

Aldrich won easily in 18:24.89, 25 seconds ahead of Concordia's Marina Konow (18:49.72).

"It's really hard," she said of running alone. "I am used to having my teammate Abby (Hostetler) with me, but she has been injured this year so it's been tough to keep my pace. But the crowd, my family and all my supporters and coach really helps."

Aldrich advances to the New Haven Semistate next week, where she will face Mishawaka sophomore Anna Rohrer.

"My goal is to keep up with (Rohrer) because she is amazing," Aldrich said. "I am really excited, and I know I have the training to keep up with her. It will be fun to have some competition."
