Pickup driver dies in collision with rig

A pickup truck driver was killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer rig Thursday morning in Williams County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Jason Saneholtz, 39, died at the crash scene in Madison Township, about 5 miles north of Montpelier.

About 9:30 a.m., Saneholtz, of Montpelier, was driving north on Ohio 15 in a 2002 Ford pickup truck, approaching U.S. 20A. The rig was going east on U.S. 20A and did not stop for a stop sign at the intersection, police said.

The rig broadsided the pickup truck, which hit a utility pole before coming to a rest. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.

The rig driver, Travis Estep, 35, of Angola was not injured. The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
