Restrictions to begin on Indiana 14, Indiana 37

Pavement preservation process to cause single-lane traffic

Sections of Indiana 14 and Indiana 37 in Whitley and Allen counties will be restricted next week for pavement preservation work, the Indiana Department of Transportation said today.

The work will occur along Indiana 14 from Indiana 9 in Whitley County to West Hamilton Road in Allen County from 8 to 5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, and along Indiana 37 from Interstate 469 to the western edge of Harlan from 8 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, the transportation department said in a statement.

During the process, known as fog sealing, the roads will be restricted to single-lane traffic controlled by flaggers, the statement said.

It described fog sealing as a light application of asphalt that can lock in loose stone, help alleviate dust and create a black surface that makes pavement markings more visible.

Motorists are asked to drive slowly and use caution during the projects, the statement said.
