Naked driver caught after I-69 chase, police say

An Indiana State Police trooper nabbed a naked driver Thursday after a short chase on Interstate 69 in northeast Indiana, according to a statement issued by the state police.

Master Trooper Gary Shenefield reported he was on Interstate 69 about 7 miles south of Markle about 8:40 a.m. when he stopped behind a red Pontiac Grand Prix parked on the side of the road with a naked man masturbating in the driver’s seat.

It said Shenefield was radioing for assistance when the Grand Prix took off, going north. The cruiser followed, stopping the car between Markle and Warren.

Chad A. Knoll, 42, of Montpelier, Ohio, was charged with resisting law enforcement, operating while intoxicated under a controlled substance and public nudity, the statement said.

State police said Knoll was taken to an area hospital before being cleared for incarceration at the Huntington County Jail in lieu of $14,000 bond.
