Verizon Wireless service restored in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE – Verizon Wireless reported about 11:50 a.m. Friday that service has been restored for customers in the Greater Fort Wayne service area.

Michelle Gilbert, public relations manager for Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky, said the outage was caused by a third-party vendor who cut a fiber line. She said she did not know where in the Fort Wayne area the cut happened or how many customers were affected.

She was notified at 7:30 a.m., but said she did not know when the outage began.

Kyle Elyse Niederpruem of Kyle Communications called later on Gilbert’s behalf to say that the service was restored.
