A young Butler woman was pinned Monday after her car struck a tree in rural DeKalb County.
The county sheriff's department said Cassandra Stickney, 18, was driving a 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass at 3:10 p.m. when it failed to make the turn at Indiana 1 and County Road 4A, sliding sideways off the road, striking a telephone junction box and then a tree.
Stickney, pinned inside, was extricated by Hamilton Fire and Rescue and taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne with a broken collarbone and facial fractures, the sheriff's department said in a statement.
The hospital said early Tuesday afternoon that she was listed in fair condition.
