Web letter: Cheers & jeers

CHEERS to Col. David Augustine and the entire 122nd Fighter Wing, and all the civilian volunteers who made Labor Day weekend air show a success. Saturday was a washout and a blow to many, but to come back Sunday was to be treated to warm hospitality, and personnel knowledgeable about the area, the wide variety of aircraft on display and various other displays

Topping that off was a great four-hour aerial display by many different aircraft, including the A-10s at the Fort Wayne base, and then to end the show with the Air Force’s newest fighter jet, the F-22, which put on a dazzling display of speed, agility and noise.

A few extra’s also, like the jet-powered outhouse and a jet-powered school bus, along with a wonderful emcee who made it all the more enjoyable.

Again, thanks to all who made this possible?

TOM PLUMMER Bluffton

Lima Road is nice since it was redone. CHEERS to the businesses and homeowners who maintain the strip of grass between the sidewalk and the highway.

JEERS to the businesses and homeowners who can’t put out a little effort to mow this strip. JEERS also to the state highway department that thinks this only needs to be mowed twice a year. Sometimes the grass is so high you can’t see oncoming traffic when trying to turn onto the highway.

When taking my dog to training at Petsmart, he slipped out of his harness and ran through the Walmart parking lot. CHEERS to all those who slowed down and prevented him from being hit and to those who successfully helped me retrieve my precious puppy.
