CHEERS to 9-year-old Fort Wayne Community Schools student Alex Aylward for being the Indiana winner in the Healthy Lunch Challenge and attending the first-ever kids state dinner at the White House recently. Who said kids will only eat chicken nuggets or junk food?

CHEERS to Bussick Orthodontics patients, families and friends who brought items for the Community Harvest Food Bank to our annual appreciation party. We collected more food than expected, and it is truly a blessing to be part of giving back to the community. Also, a big thanks to Dr. Tim Bussick for being a good sport and spending time in the dunk tank.
MICHELE GUIN and staff of Bussick Orthodontics Fort Wayne
CHEERS to the Fort Wayne police officer who was kind enough to give me a ride home from the corner of Taylor Street and Broadway after I hobbled all the way from the Parkview Hospital emergency room with arthritic knees. Id also like to thank the woman who bought me a cup of coffee at Halls Restaurant on Bluffton Road.
JEERS to Mayor Tom Henry and his staff for not calling me back about or giving accolades to that officer who gave me a ride from Broadway and Taylor.
PAUL F. MARSDEN Fort Wayne
CHEERS to those who helped sponsor or volunteered to make the Air Show weekend a success. Attendance was outstanding – more than 82,000 enjoyed three great days of performances, static displays and other attractions. With a holiday weekend full of entertainment options, and with weather a bit challenging at times, the attendance clearly shows northeast Indianas support for our military men and women and the fine job they do for our nation and our state. Those who staged the event – including 122nd FW Commander Col. David Augustine, Vice Commander Col. Craig Ash, Maj. Brian Frazier, Kathryn Gentz and the entire air show team deserve our thanks and appreciation for a job well done. The biggest thank you goes to the patriotic citizens of northeast Indiana and beyond who turned out to enjoy a great time and to make a strong statement of support for our fighting men and women.
