Jefferson Pointe facelift in works

Construction of a private road at Jefferson Pointe will kick off next week in hopes of making the open-air mall more shopper-friendly.

A multimillion-dollar project is expected to wrap up by Nov. 16. Besides the new drive, which will run past the Rave Cinemas and feed into the retail area, a revamped food court featuring Tucanos Brazilian Grill and the construction of a future 6,500-square-foot building is on the schedule. Officials have not said what will occupy the space.

Other improvements include 17 additional parking spaces and room for drop-offs near Rave Cinemas.

Management at Jefferson Pointe rescheduled a Wednesday news conference to take place at 4 p.m. today to highlight upcoming improvements at the shopping center.

Jefferson Pointe has about a 90 percent occupancy rate with more than 70 stores and restaurants.
