TinCaps fall to Dayton

Erik Cabrera was just trying to finish the inning. Instead, Juan Perez finished him.

Perez’ three-run homer in the Dayton fifth erased a three-run deficit, and the Dragons (21-26, 51-66 overall) scored the go-ahead run in the sixth to claim a second straight victory over the TinCaps, 5-4, on Sunday at Fifth Third Field in Dayton, Ohio.

Perez’ blast was his second homer of the game off Cabrera and chased the TinCaps’ rookie after 4 2/3 innings. Reliever Dennis O’Grady then surrendered Sean Buckley’s RBI double in the sixth to pick up the loss, his first in five decisions this season.

A three-run third highlighted by Jace Peterson’s two-run triple set up the TinCaps (28-21, 59-59) with the lead they failed to hold.
