The Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission will hold a second round of interviews to select three candidates for the latest opening on the state Supreme Court.
Allen Superior Court Judge Fran Gull is among the 10 semi-finalists.
Gov. Mitch Daniels will select one of the three finalists as the newest justice. This will be Daniels third appointment to the five-member court in the past two years.
Today, Daniels will swear in Brent Dickson as chief justice of the Indiana Supreme Court. Though Dickson took office in May, officials wanted to schedule a public ceremony.
Legislative meetings
The legislative calendar fills in quickly in August, as study committees prepare for the coming session. Panels on autism and developmental disabilities meet this week at the Statehouse, with dozens more meetings scheduled through the rest of the month and September.
Rep. Kathy Heuer, a Columbia City Republican, is a member of the Commission on Autism, which meets for the first time Wednesday to hear a report from state officials and from an expert at Indiana State University.
Other committees this month will hear testimony on the performance of the Department of Child Services, child custody and support measures, outdoor stage equipment safety and more.
