Statement as issued Monday by the Indiana State Police:
Whitley County, IN – The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division from the Fort Wayne post has arrested a Whitley County elected official on multiple charges of Official Misconduct and Battery following a one month long investigation.
According to Detective Kevin Smith, a complaint was made to the South Whitely Police Department alleging that 74 year old Roland King of rural South Whitley had inappropriately touched three women at the Cleveland Township Trustee’s office between June 10, 2011 and June 11, 2012. King, who is the elected Cleveland Township Trustee, maintains his office at his residence near South Whitley.
Detective Smith began his investigation in late June and he credits the cooperative efforts of both the South Whitley Police Department and the Whitley County Prosecutor’s Office in assisting him with the investigative efforts in this case. King was booked into the Whitley County Jail this afternoon where he has since been released on a $40,500 bond.
