Police arrested a Fort Wayne man after a neighbor said he fired several shots outside the neighbors home early Wednesday.
A neighbor called police about 3:30 a.m. and said his neighbor Michael J. Collier had fired several rounds next to his home, according to a probable cause affidavit.
When police arrived, they said they found Collier, 44, of the 900 block of Charlotte Avenue, without a shirt and found 13 spent .45-caliber shell casings near where Collier was sitting.
The neighbor told police that after hearing the shots, he went outside and saw Collier with a handgun and told Collier to go home. Collier then walked around the neighbors house and the neighbor said he heard another shot fired.
A few minutes later, the neighbor said he heard several additional shots in the area, court papers said.
Collier was arrested on charges of criminal recklessness. He was released on $2,500 bail.
Allen County Prosecutor Karen Richards declined to file formal charges against Collier in March after he was arrested in connection with the shooting death of 52-year-old James A. Heinze outside the State Bar & Grill, 1210 E. State Blvd.
Richards previously said evidence suggested that shooting was in self-defense after Collier and Heinze got into a fight.
