2 mobile-home fires intentionally set, firefighters say

Two mobile-home fires early today in Steuben County were intentionally set, the Angola Fire Department said this afternoon.

The fires at 4305 W. U.S. 20, Lot 70, and at 4305 W. U.S. 20, Lot 68, were set on the outside of the mobile homes, the fire department said in a statement. One was at 2:23 a.m. and the other at 7:15 a.m.

The first units on the scene of both fires were met with heavy fire and smoke, the statement said. It said the homes were not occupied at the time of the fires, and firefighters don't know who owns them.

Both homes sustained major damage throughout and are considered total losses, the statement said. It said the investigation has been turned over to the county sheriff's department.
