New Haven woman OK; smoke detector credited

Firefighters credit smoke detectors with saving a woman from a mobile home fire early Thursday in New Haven.

The woman was sleeping in her home in the Glenridge Manor mobile home park at 7227 Moeller Road, east of Adams Center Road, when the fire started, New Haven authorities said. Smoke detectors woke the woman, and she escaped through a back door.

Firefighters and medics were called to the home shortly after 1:30 a.m., and crews could see the outside of the home was on fire.

The flames were brought under control just before 2 a.m., and the home was saved. The woman was treated at the scene for inhaling a small amount of smoke, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
