Rider, passenger die in rural Allen crash

– A man and woman from Fort Wayne died Tuesday night from injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash northeast of the city, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

The motorcycle’s operator, Lucas T. Morrolf, 32, died at the scene, and his passenger, Janiece Malcolm, 27, was taken to a hospital, where she died shortly after arriving, officials said.

The crash occurred about 10 p.m. near the intersection of Schwartz and Notestine roads. Details remain sketchy, and the crash remains under investigation.

Morrolf and Malcolm are the 19th and 20th traffic fatalities in the county this year, authorities said.

Morrolf was born in Fort Wayne, and he graduated from New Haven High School, according to an obituary.

Services for Morrolf are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling an hour beforehand. Calling is also scheduled 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
