Meth, stolen items seized; 2 arrested

Warsaw police officers were looking for man with a warrant this weekend and ended up finding an active meth lab and stolen items.

Police went to a home in the 400 block of South Detroit Street at 3:40 p.m. Saturday. They report finding a one-pot meth lab, materials commonly used to make meth and items associated with a theft and burglary in Warsaw earlier in the week.

Charles R. Dove, 28, of Warsaw, fled out of a window and was captured, police said in a written statement. A second suspect, Jason L. Shepherd, 33, ran into another room in the home and was placed under arrest. Police said a package of finished methamphetamine was found.

Dove and Shepherd were charged with manufacturing, dealing and possession of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school or park, as well as possession of meth precursors within 1,000 feet of a school or park. The home is in the area of Kiwanis Park.

Police said Dove had an outstanding warrant on a theft charge. Both were booked into the Kosciusko County Jail and held with no bond.
