His family and friends agree that to meet Tourkow was to instantly meet a friend.The National Weather Service says a red flag warning for critical fire danger remains in effect from 10 a.m. EDT to 8 p.m. EDT today for the Indiana counties of Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, DeKalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White and Whitley; and the Ohio counties of Allen, Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Williams and Van Wert.
Very hot temperatures of 103 degrees to 106 degrees, combined with low relative humidity of about 20 percent, and strong west winds of 15 mph to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph will lead to a critical fire danger risk this afternoon for northern Indiana and northwest Ohio.
Nearly all northern Indiana counties remain under burn bans due to the threat of wildfires. A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring or will occur soon. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperature will create potential for explosive fire growth.
