TinCaps shut down

Jake Hager went 3 for 4 and led the Bowling Green Hot Rods to a 4-0 victory over the TinCaps in Kentucky on Saturday.

Fort Wayne (31-38) mustered only three hits in the game and lost its fourth in a row.

Getting the only Fort Wayne hits were Jace Peterson, Yeison Asencio and Duanel Jones, while starting pitcher Ruben Mejia (1-2) lasted five innings, giving up seven hits and two runs, while walking two and striking out three.

Bowling Green (37-32) got a great outing from starter Ryan Carpenter (6-3), who struck out nine and walked only one, while giving up two hits in seven innings.

Teammate Ryan Brett was 2 for 3 with two runs. Cameron Seitzer was 2 for 4 with one run.

Hager had two RBI, as the Hot Rods totaled 10 hits.

The only three errors of the game went to Fort Wayne, in front of 5,764 fans.
