A bat flew out of my car port and joined three other bats flying around my yard last night. With this reminder, I immediately put out my hummingbird feeders.
I feel like I am behind schedule with my garden duties. This early summer like weather makes me feel like my vegetable plants should be full grown by now. Instead I am just starting them from seeds. With this heat, my eggplants and peppers shouldn't have a problem germinating. They like the room temperature to be around 70 at least. No problem with that.
I have also reseeded the grass where the the moles and dogs damaged my yard the past year. Lettuce from wayward seeds are coming up through my brick patio so I have also planted lettuce seeds outside in a pot. If it gets too cold again, I can still bring it inside if necessary.
Some of the Swiss chard from last summer is still thriving and so planting a few more seeds in the garden ought not to be too early.
I have also double hoed my vegetable garden and have buried the soak hose. While the weather holds, I am going to remove weeds from my flower garden and plant some flower seeds. Meanwhile I am enjoying the daffodils and crocuses.
