Irish snap losing streak

Notre Dame ended a two-game losing streak with a 66-58 win over Cincinnati on Wednesday in Purcell Pavilion.

The No. 16 Irish were bolstered by the surprise return of forward Carleton Scott, who wasn't expected to return from a slight tear in his left hamstring until Feb. 3.

Scott didn't start and his playing time was limited, but the senior captain hit a three-pointer in each half and grabbed two rebounds.

Ben Hansbrough and Tyrone Nash led the Irish's offense with 13 points each. Tim Abromaitis scored 12 for Notre Dame (15-4, 4-3 Big East), and Eric Atkins and Scott Martin each had 11.

Sean Kilpatrick scored 16 to lead No. 25 Cincinnati (16-3, 3-3).
